Dear candidate

Thank you for your interest in the post of Director General of the Bar Standards Board.

Our long-serving Director General, Dr Vanessa Davies, leaves us at the end of the year. We are looking for an experienced leader who is passionate about our mission to regulate barristers in the public interest to build on the strong foundation she leaves.

This is an exciting time to join us and I encourage you to apply if you are seeking a high profile and intellectually stimulating position in a complex regulatory environment.  The role of Director General is demanding and to be successful you will need exceptional stakeholder skills, strategic and political astuteness and a commitment to our organisational values.

I chair a dynamic and diverse Board and we are fortunate to be supported by a strong and experienced senior management team.  We have been through a period of change recently and are now at the implementation stage for a range of regulatory initiatives and governance reforms aimed at protecting the public and sustaining the profession.

I am eager to hear from candidates who can evidence an outstanding track record in leadership and delivery who can maintain Vanessa’s progress in making the BSB a modern and effective regulator. If you feel you fit the job profile enclosed, I would be delighted to receive your application.
